The Ultimate Australian River Crossing

If you haven't driven over the Ord River via Ivanhoe Crossing.... have you even visited Kununurra? Once the only route to the bustling town of Port Wyndham, today the crossing remains a popular fishing spot and ultimate 4WD bucketlist item. It is currently closed (2024) due to an extraordinary Wet Season. Here's a little local insight that I might end up taking down if too many tourists take this up - when Ivanhoe Crossing is closed during the dry season, it means that the Spillway is flowing. This is usually a one in 7 year occurrence so just divert your adventures there! There's some barra there but usually plenty of black bream. Do this at your own risk, it is a rocky fast flowing creek.
