Kununurra Self Drive
If you haven't entered Kununurra ex-Broome, take a drive over the Diversion Dam. The Dam was never designed to be a bridge but it's temporary use has remained for decades. With plans to build an alternative bridge in coming years, this experience will one day be limited to light vehicles only.
Visit the 2017 "Distiller of the Year" Hoochery Rum Distillery and enjoy an internationally acclaimed Liquer and Spirit tasting, don't forget their schedule tours and hearty lunches. Whilst in the area, drop into the Quintis Sandalwood Factory and explore the products from the largest sustainable Indian Sandalwood plantation in the southern hemisphere.
Don't forget your fishing rod, cast a line in at the iconic Ivanhoe Crossing - beware of crocs!
Iconic to the Region is the Zebra Rock. There are a number of cafes and galleries displaying this Kimberley Rock including Kimberley Ornamental Stone Craft and Rockalong Stoneworks.
Did you know that Australia has the worlds largest diamond mine? It's possible to take a tour to the mine or admire the Argyle Diamond displays at Kimberley Fine Diamonds and view the jewllers in action in the Jewellery Workshop.
The Breathtaking Mirima National Park (also known as Hidden Valley National Park) is located on the town's edge with a spectacular lookout amongst amazing rock formations. Kelly's Knob Scenic lookout has a number of lookouts with equally spectacular views. Remember to take a torch with you if you head out for sunset.
Kununurra Historical Society Museum is a very interesting find for those historical enthusiasts. Young in age but rich in history Kununurra has a very interesting story.
Opposite Kimberleyland is the Celebrity Tree Park and Playground. Take a stroll through the manicured park and ponder on the trees and monuments planted by Royalty, Celebrities, Sports Stars and leaders.
